Character: Solo performer, Male or Female, any age, open to all ethnicities
The Dandelion Project is a new, solo-performance, play exploring ideas, issues, and experiences surrounding euthanasia, doctor-assisted suicide, and end-of-life decision making. The play will be built entirely from verbatim text gathered by the creative team. The interviews will take place over the fall of 2012 and winter of 2013. The Dandelion Project will be Verb Theatre’s newest creation fulfilling our mission to explore and share personal and rarely told stories.
Casting breakdown: In this solo performance the actor will portray dozens of characters based on taped interviews. The characters will range in age, gender, ethnicity, and physical health.
The solo performer in this verbatim docudrama has the exciting opportunity to interpret and recreate the words and voices taken from interviews. Similar work has been undertaken (and made famous) by American performance artist, Anna Deavere Smith. Click here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KR8SwPmCFd4) for an example of her performance style.
For The Dandelion Project audition, the performer will be given three short video interviews to interpret and perform. Performance clips will be made available only to those called for an audition. Please submit a resume, headshot, and letter of interest to email@example.com
