JOB NOTICE – FUND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

POSITION: Fund Development Officer
REPORTS TO: Director, Fund & Business Development
POSITION STATUS: Full-time (40-hour work week with very occasional evening and weekends)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Fund Development Officer is responsible for advancing the mission of EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts (EPCOR CENTRE) by generating revenues by aggressively engaging in the solicitation and stewardship of individual and corporate philanthropic donors and the stewardship of corporate sponsors. The Fund Development Officer is part of the Fund Development Team and participates in the annual planning process; is responsible for the development, control and reconciliation of budget items as assigned; and, is responsible for the supervision of volunteers from time to time.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following responsibilities represent the performance goals for the Fund Development Officer, on the basis of which his/her performance will be evaluated:
 Grow the financial support EPCOR CENTRE enjoys from individual and corporate philanthropic donors by designing, implementing and managing the delivery of the individual and corporate annual philanthropic giving program (Founder’s Circle and Explorers Circle). This position is responsible for prospect research and donor cultivation, recognition and stewardship.
 Grow the support EPCOR CENTRE enjoys from corporate sponsors by providing high-quality donor research for meetings, events and strategy planning and develop and implement corporate sponsorship stewardship program that is designed to foster and nurture long-term, meaningful relationships between EPCOR CENTRE and its corporate sponsors.
 Maintain accurate and current records (database and file) for individual and corporate philanthropic donors and corporate sponsors.
 Contribute to the development of a team-oriented work environment, which values staff input and builds on trust, consultation and shared information.
 Adhere to the Donor Bill of Rights and the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATION
The following experience, skills and personal qualities are considered desirable assets in fulfilling the
responsibilities of this position:
 2 - 3 years experience in a fund development role in a non-profit environment.
 Demonstrates strong administrative, analytical and organizational skills necessary to prioritize and manage concurrent assignments.
 Has a successful record conducting prospect and donor research.
 Has a successful record of cultivation and stewardship of individual and corporate philanthropic donors and stewardship of corporate sponsors.
 Has a successful record of writing corporate sponsorship proposals and fulfillment reports.
 Has a warm and friendly demeanor and exhibits a high degree of patience.
 Has a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and an entrepreneurial spirit.
 Is action and results orientated.
 Has strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
 Has proven ability to successfully address challenge and change.
 Has a general knowledge of the arts, and a sound understanding of the value of the arts to the community.
 Is knowledgeable of Canada Revenue Agency regulations governing non-profit organizations.
 Is experienced with software packages such as Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word, and is proficient with Tessitura, or other donor management systems.
