The New Gallery: Community Engagement Assistant

The New Gallery (TNG) is seeking applications for a temporary Community Engagement Assistant to further develop its exciting new ancillary space, The John Snow House.
Candidates should be undergraduate students returning to studies in the fall, those with plans to enroll in future studies or recent graduates. All applicants should have formal education in the areas of marketing, communications, public relations, art history, or another related field. The successful applicant will be passionate about the Calgary arts community, will be highly organized, and will have strong communication skills. Candidates will be working under the direction of the John Snow House Director. Some training will be provided.
The current position is for 30 hours per week and assists TNG with the promotion and dissemination of all aspects of the public programs and engagement activities held within the John Snow House.
Basic responsibilities include:
- Represent TNG in a professional and courteous manner to our stakeholders
- Work collaboratively with TNG’s staff and Communications committee to create and manage integrated marketing/communication strategies to build audiences for programs, events and services
- Coordinate and implement promotional strategies for the JSH to ensure consistent brand and character
- Expand the number of Community partners and facility rentals. Schedule and coordinate the use of the JSH among various organizations and individuals
- Liaise with local cultural groups and stakeholders in support of our activities

The deadline for application is April 03, 2012, 5:00 PM. This is a summer contract position, open to returning students and recent graduates, and subject to the availability of funding. The rate of pay will be $13.00 per hour for 30 hours per week for 16 weeks.
