Final Phase of Calgary's Arts Plan Process Set To Begin
- Posted November 9th, 2012
(Calgary, AB - November 8) - Today, Calgary Arts Development held a shareholder’s meeting with City Council to present a report, crafted by a Citizens' Reference Panel, outlining 35 recommendations for Calgary’s first Arts Plan. Citizens were asked for their thoughts on how to strengthen the role of the arts in the lives and livelihoods of Calgarians. The report was the result of an engagement process overseen by public consultation firm MASS LBP and is part of a three-phase process to produce Calgary’s first Arts Plan, a long-term strategy for arts development and investment in Calgary and a legacy of Calgary's year as Cultural Capital of Canada.

Arts Plan Public Roundtable: October 13
- Posted October 4th, 2012
Calgary's Arts Plan is the long-term strategy for arts development and investment in Calgary. The goals we set now will become a lasting legacy of Calgary's year as a Cultural Capital of Canada. Now is the time to imagine the future of our city. It is a time for Calgarians to consider the role a vibrant arts sector will play in our city's future.
The City of Calgary and Calgary Arts Development are committed to involving the public in decisions that affect them. That’s why we engaged MASS LBP, a Canadian organization dedicated to reinventing public consultation, to convene a Citizens’ Reference Panel to determine public values and priorities. The Citizens' Reference Panel on Calgary’s Arts Plan is made up of 36 randomly selected Calgarians from across the city. The panelists have volunteered to spend four Saturdays in September and October to learn about Calgary's arts sector and work together to determine the priorities and vision that will guide the creation of Calgary's first Arts Plan.
On October 13, join the conversation by attending the Public Roundtable on Calgary's Arts Plan. The Public Roundtable is a chance for all Calgarians to learn about the Arts Plan process, meet the Citizens' Reference Panel and work together to discuss public priorities.
October 13, 1:00 - 3:00pm
Calgary Water Centre, 25th Ave. SE & Spiller Road SE
Registration is encouraged but not required. Visit ArtsPlan.ca to register or learn more about the process.
